There are reports that Half Life 2 has gone gold, even if not officially. The news has been pushed out on GameSpot<\/a> and then backed on Slashdot<\/a>.<\/p>\n RUMOR #1<\/b>: Half-Life 2 is gold. Really. No foolin’. Honest.<\/p>\n Source<\/b>: If we told you, we’d have to kill you.<\/p>\n The official story<\/b>: Both VU Games and Valve declined comment.<\/p>\n What we heard<\/b>: Ever since the release candidate for Half-Life 2 was submitted to VU Games in mid-September, a pi\u00f1ata has hung in the lobby of Valve’s headquarters. The plan: to bust the sucker open when the game achieved gold status. Earlier today, GameSpot learned from a locally based source that “the pi\u00f1ata has been broken” and the game has gone gold.
